New intern joins Cara-Friend from Belgium

François Fekete de Vari has joined the ranks of the Cara-Friend LGB&T Youth Team for a twelve-week placement. François, 27, hails from Brussels and has thrown himself into Cara-Friend’s work, getting involved in assisting our youth officers on Monday and Friday nights in the Belfast LGB&T Centre. He has also gotten involved with the Out & About LGB&T hiking group.
François has a Masters in Philosophy from Universite Libre de Bruxelles, where he also studied for his Bachelors. His study centred on gender, its performativity and queer agency. “I am very eager to defend LGBTQI+QI rights and to foster social inclusion”, François said. “I strongly believe that Cara-Friend is a promising opportunity to do just this through working with the youth service.”
François’s placement with Cara-Friend is supported by the Bureau International Jeunesse, a Belgian state organisation which promotes youth mobility and European exchange programmes.
