Supporting LGBTQ+ People in Northern Ireland

CARA-FRIEND LGBTQ+ YOUTH

If you are aged between 12 and 25, Cara-Friend LGBTQ+ Youth will have something to offer! Our groups are run according to a peer-led ethos, where young LGBTQ+ people are our volunteer leaders. This means that everyone from the other attendees to the leaders are all in the same situation as you – whether that means you are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, non-binary or questioning. The most important goal of Cara-Friend LGBTQ+ Youth is for young people to be able to be themselves, however they might identify themselves. The groups are safe spaces where everyone can relax, meet new people and, most importantly, have some fun! There is a real community feel to our groups.

Our flagship group is based in Belfast City Centre where we provide an open social space to meet other young people who are LGBTQ+. It meets in the community room of the LGBT Centre at 23-31 Waring Street (CQHQ beside Quartisan) every Monday and Friday, from 6-9pm. Though Cara-Friend is located on the third floor of the building, it is fully accessible by stairs and an elevator. You must press the buzzer for the door to open, and this is located a little high off the ground, so if you have specialist access needs just contact us to let us know.

Lesbian? Gay? Bisexual? Trans? Or Questioning?
