Charter Award
Silver Charter Award:
The Silver Charter award will show that an organisation has reached the first milestone in LGBTQIA+ inclusivity. Core activities include:
- Staff led inclusivity and diversity notice board.
- Creation and implementation of a comprehensive LGBTQIA+ policy.
- Celebrating diversity during anti-bullying week to combat queerphobic bullying and promote a workspace free from prejudice and discrimination.
- Ensure self-monitoring and evaluation measures are in place.
Core inclusive activities are to be completed within 1 year of receiving LGBTQIA+ awareness training and maintained during the year in which the Charter is valid. The Charter is awarded for 1 year on completion and verification of the Charter audit.
Gold Charter Award:
The Gold Charter award, in addition to achieving the core inclusion activities set out in the Silver Charter; it will focus on the following:
- Engaging with schools and students by hosting ‘Insight Days’ to engage with LGBTQIA+ young people from post-primary schools.
- Cultural engagement through organised events during LGBTQIA+ awareness week.
Core inclusive activities are to be completed within 1 year of receiving LGBTQIA+ awareness training and maintained during the 2 years in which the Charter is valid. The Charter is awarded for 2 years on completion and verification of the Charter audit.
Platinum Charter Award:
The Platinum Charter award, in addition to achieving the core inclusion activities of the Silver and Gold Charter, involves engagement through the following:
- Participation and attendance to Cara-Friend’s LGBTQIA+ Inclusive Schools’ Charter events.
- Creation and maintenance of an LGBTQIA+ internal network group to encourage respect and diversity within the workplace.
Core inclusion activities are to be completed within 1 year of receiving LGBTQIA+ awareness training and maintained during the 3 years in which the Charter is valid. The Charter is awarded for 3 years on completion and verification of the Charter audit.
